Our Story
Meet Rich and Cassie Parente. In 2016, the seed of an idea began to take root. We dreamed about owning a farm—one where livestock could be raised with care and purpose. Cassie, having grown up on a hobby farm in Nova Scotia, carried the foundational knowledge and passion to make that dream possible. With her steady hand and voice of reason, we set out to build not just a farm, but a place where animals could live the best lives we could give them. It was, in every way, a dream come true.
Farming has been both humbling and rewarding. It gave us a deeper respect for the food on our plates and connected us more closely with the land and those who work it. By collaborating with neighboring farmers, we began to understand food in its truest form—learning not only how to optimize the quality of our meats, but also how to honor the lives of the animals themselves. This journey turned into more than a livelihood; it became a calling.
In the summer of 2025, that calling led us to open The Daily Market. From the very beginning, we knew we didn’t want to be “just another grocery store.” We wanted to bring something different to our community: a place that was equal parts market, gathering space, and storyteller of food. At The Daily Market, every item on the shelf has a story—whether it’s sourced from our own farm or from a nearby grower who shares our values.
We are deeply committed to sourcing as much local, sustainable, organic, and GMO-free food as possible. For us, working with area farmers and markets isn’t a challenge—it’s an opportunity to connect, to share, and to invite others into the story of where their food comes from. We believe that food tastes better when you know the hands that raised it, grew it, or harvested it.
At its heart, The Daily Market is about community. It’s about changing the way people eat—not through strict rules or trends, but by making food fun again, by creating connections, and by giving people the chance to savor food that is truly good: good for the land, good for the farmer, and good for the table.
